Travel Forecast (“we”, “us”) operates travel-forecast.com and provides cruise weather forecasts and related travel content. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. It applies in particular to information we obtain when you sign in with Google (“Google user data”).
When you sign in with Google, we request only the default OpenID Connect identity scopes:
openid — confirms your Google account identityhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email — your primary Google email addresshttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile — your Google display name and profile pictureGoogle returns an ID token containing your Google account ID, email address, display name, and profile picture URL. We do not request, receive, or store a refresh token; we do not access any other Google services (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, etc.).
In addition to Google user data, we store cruises you explicitly save (ship name, itinerary ID, save timestamp), your unit preferences (metric/imperial), and standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path, timestamp) that our hosting and error-monitoring providers retain for operational purposes.
We use Google user data solely to provide and improve user-facing features of Travel Forecast:
We do not use Google user data for advertising, resale to data brokers, credit or lending decisions, profiling, or training generalized AI/ML models.
We do not sell Google user data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We transfer your information only to the service providers required to operate the site, under contractual obligations that limit them to processing data on our behalf:
We may also disclose information when required by law (e.g. valid subpoena) or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
We and our partners use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for three purposes:
You can clear or block cookies at any time from your browser settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent sign-in and saved-cruise sync from working.
We work with the following third parties, who may set their own cookies when you visit Travel Forecast:
We do not share Google user data (name, email, profile picture) with any of these partners. The partners above only receive anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers (e.g. cookie IDs, IP address, user agent).
All traffic to and from the site is encrypted in transit with TLS (HTTPS). Data at rest in our database (Supabase) is encrypted. Application access to user records is restricted by row-level security policies scoped to the authenticated user's ID — accounts cannot read each other's data.
Access to production infrastructure is limited to Travel Forecast's operators and protected by two-factor authentication.
We retain your account record and associated favorites for as long as your account remains active. Server logs and error reports are retained for up to 90 days by our hosting and monitoring providers, after which they are automatically deleted.
If you delete your account, we remove your Google user data (email, display name, profile picture URL) and associated favorites from our primary database within 30 days. Backup copies are overwritten in the normal rotation within 90 days.
You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. To request deletion, email contact@travel-forecast.com from the email address associated with your account. We will confirm the request and complete deletion within 30 days.
You can also revoke Travel Forecast's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page. Revoking access prevents future sign-ins but does not, on its own, delete data we've already stored — use the email process above for deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data, including the right to access, correct, export, or object to certain processing. Contact us at the address below to exercise any of these rights.
If you reside in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another U.S. state with comprehensive consumer privacy legislation, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
Categories we “share” (as defined by California's CPRA).We allow certain advertising and analytics partners — Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, AdSense), Meta (Facebook Pixel), and Viator (affiliate tracking) — to collect identifiers, usage data, and device information from our site for measurement and cross-context behavioral advertising. Under the CPRA this is considered “sharing,” and you have the right to opt out.
How to opt out. Click Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information (available in the footer on every page), change your choices in the cookie banner, or email us at the address below. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid opt-out.
How to exercise other rights. Email contact@travel-forecast.com with the request (access, deletion, correction, or portability). We verify identity via the account's registered email before fulfilling any request that concerns personal information tied to an account. We respond within 45 daysof receipt (extendable by 45 days where allowed by law, with written notice). Authorized agents may submit requests on a consumer's behalf with written authorization.
Appeals (Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states that require an appeal process). If we decline a request, reply to our response email with the word “Appeal” and the reason; a different reviewer will evaluate and respond within 60 days.
Sensitive personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information (as defined by the CPRA) for purposes beyond those strictly necessary to provide the service you requested.
Travel Forecast is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes — particularly changes to how we use Google user data — we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
