The classic Mexican Riviera route hitting all three signature ports without needing a flight.
Why it works: Drive-to-port convenience for West Coast travelers and three genuinely different port personalities in one week — desert Cabo, colonial Mazatlan, and jungle-backed Puerto Vallarta — without ever boarding a plane.
November through April offers the driest, most comfortable weather with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. December through February is peak season and books up fastest.
The Eastern Pacific hurricane season runs June through November, peaking August through October. Cabo San Lucas is the most exposed port; Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan sit slightly further from the most common storm tracks.
Cabo San Lucas has a dry desert climate with minimal rain most of the year. Puerto Vallarta, further south along the mainland coast, is noticeably more humid and tropical with heavier summer rain. Mazatlan falls in between the two.
