St. Maarten/St. Martin is split down the middle: the Dutch territory of Sint Maarten to the south, the French collectivity of Saint-Martin to the north, two countries on one small island. Cruise passengers dock in Philipsburg on the Dutch side, minutes from beach clubs, duty-free shops, and Maho Beach, where jets clear the sand by a few feet on their approach to the airport.
